4 Late-Night Snacks that Keep You Slim
By Redbook from Healthy Living “It’s a myth that eating late causes the body to store calories as fat,” say registered dietitians Lyssie Lakatos and Tammy Lakatos Shames, authors of The Secret to Skinny. But after sundown, your internal clock does make you hungrier for sweet, starchy, and salty foods, so try these healthy picks. 1. Baby carrots with nonfat Greek yogurt: Add garlic salt and pepper for a flavor boost. 2. Skinny vanilla milkshake: Add 1 scoop vanilla-flavored protein powder (try high-quality whey protein brand Unjury) to 1 cup skim milk, then blend with ice. 3. Pistachios: For 100 calories you can have about 30 nuts, and they have far less salt than most processed snacks. 4. Chocolate-covered banana slices: Melt a square of dark chocolate in the microwave for about 20 seconds, then dip in banana slices. It’s antioxidant- and fiber-rich.
